Machined castings

From rough casting to finished print — without the finger-pointing.

Dynamics Group machines customer-supplied castings to final dimensions: datum establishment from cast surfaces, workholding built for irregular blanks, and critical features verified in-house before release.

Where we fit

Castings punish shops that treat them like billet

A casting arrives with draft, mismatch, gate stubs and stock that varies part to part. Holding print tolerances starts with a datum strategy and workholding that respect the as-cast condition — not a vise and optimism.

Datum establishment

First-operation targets picked from cast datums or stable as-cast surfaces so stock cleans up across the lot.

Fixturing for cast blanks

Nests, dedicated fixtures and soft jaws designed and built in-house around real casting variation.

Critical-feature machining

Bores, faces, seal surfaces and mounting patterns machined and verified to the agreed print requirements.

Lot-to-lot repeatability

Process checks placed where casting variation actually shows up, not just at final inspection.

Proof before promise

Buyer questions

Straight answers before you send a print

Does Dynamics Group pour or source castings?

Dynamics Group is a machining supplier, not a foundry. Castings are supplied by the customer or their foundry; Dynamics Group can advise on machining stock, datum targets and fixturing during casting design.

How do you handle casting-to-casting variation?

First operations locate from cast datum targets or stable as-cast surfaces, and workholding is designed around expected variation so downstream operations see a consistent condition.

Can you machine a first-article before releasing the lot?

Yes. A first casting can be machined and inspected against the agreed critical features before the balance of the lot is committed.

What casting sizes fit the shop?

Published capacity is 51 x 22 x 20 inches for milling and Ø14.96 x 24 inches for turning. Usable size depends on the casting geometry, stock condition and workholding.
